MGB XII ON ITS WAY FOR A “GREEN” ENVIRONMENT

The Mines and Geociences Bureau (MGB) Region XII is on its way for a “green” environment. Orientation to become ‘green” were undertaken by the employees since March this year and trainings were continuously conducted to prepare the entire organization to become an ISO 14001 and 18001.

ISO 14001 is a standardized environmental management system that helps manage impacts of external environment in order to reduce pollution and comply with regulations while 18001 or Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series creates and maintains a safe working environment and the health of workers, targeting the social dimension of sustainability.Read More

MGB XII ACTIVATES RADIO PROGRAM AT DXKI

As part of the continuous effort to attain a wider reach of audience in the dissemination of information on mining and geohazard in the region, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Region XII activated its radio program at DXKI, Koronadal City.

The radio program entitled “Gabay sa Pagmimina” highlights the laws, policies and programs implemented by the bureau. Likewise, news about mining in the region will be aired in the program. It also encurages the listeners to send queries on mining and geohazard related issues and concerns in their area or in other areas via the hotline number provided by the office.

The initial program of MGB XII was undertaken on March 7 with regional director Constancio A. Paye, Jr. and the division chiefs as guests. As initial offering, the bureau’s mandate and the services provided to the public were tackled in the program.

The radio program’s overall goal is to provide the public with correct and accurate information and to impart deeper understanding on what mining really is and the processes and laws being implemented by the bureau. The program is airing every Tuesday at 4 to 4:30 in the afternoon at DXKI at 1062 kHz. 

MGB XII DISTRIBUTES UPDATED GEOHAZARD MAPS IN TUPI, SOUTH COTABATO

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Region XII distributed the updated geohazard maps in Tupi, South Cotabato on February 28. Ariel Austin A. Acosta, senior geologist and team leader assigned to conduct vulnerability risk assessment (VRA) in the area spearheded the distribution to the officials and representatives of 15 barangays and local Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office during the exit conference held at the Conference Hall of the municipality.

Acosta and his team members composed of Tristan dela Cruz and Luther Dalura took the  opportunity to explain to the local officials the puroks and sitios found to be exposed to flooding and landslide. It pointed and stressed the findings and observations on the population, roads and built-up areas exposed to low, moderate and high risk to flooding and landslide.Read More
